In worship on Sunday, August 30, our Scripture lesson included James 1:22: "But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves." We spent time brainstorming alone and as a congregation ways we can be doers of the word and in the world as we live as Christ's disciples in the realms of economics, society, and environment. I collected our brainstorming sheets and will share our ideas here as "discipleship challenges" in the coming weeks. There is a quite a variety of responses that range from the changes we might make in our personal, family, church, and community lives. Feel free to take some of these one and let us know in the comments how it goes!
1. Be attentive to the needs in my surroundings.
2. Bring food to share in fellowship at church.
3. Share a friendly smile & happy thought with someone who is alone & perhaps needs a new friend.
4. Intentionally recycle regardless of the place we are in - home, business, church
